A Career as a Technician

For some, the idea of spending all day looking up at the undercarriage of a car is their idea of hell, for others it is heaven on earth – but whoever we are, we have all come to appreciate the importance and reliance we have on our cars.

Whilst the dark days of standing in pits beneath a car, with water up to our knees have long been left behind us, the need for talented and dedicated people to help keep the cars of today on the road is still great.

Cars are constantly changing. No longer is it enough to be able to change spark plugs and oil. Today’s Technicians need to be able to understand and diagnose the electronic and computerised systems used throughout a modern vehicle.

To be a top-level technician takes a combination of skill and training. Whilst you can be taught how to correct a fault, often the diagnosis of the problem will come down to a combination of training, experience and intuitive logic. For the best comes good career prospects, a good salary and a large amount of job satisfaction
