The Technician scheme
The Dews Technician Training Scheme is a 4 year structured programme, aimed at providing successful applicants with the necessary skills to not only service and repair vehicles, but to hopefully progress further within the motor trade, and ideally Dews Motor Group. Our aspirations are to develop the Service Managers and General Managers of the future.
The Job
The objective of the programme is to get each trainee to be a fully productive and accredited motor vehicle technician by the end of the 4year programme. On entry we will make an assessment of your current technical knowledge, and develop a specific training plan based upon your capabilities and skills. Irrelevant of skill level each candidate will work alongside a senior technician for at least 1 year, and will be provided with support from senior technicians for the duration of the programme.
The Training
The majority of training will be provided on the job in the workshops, actually working on vehicles, under the supervision of a senior technician. To support this learning the trainee will also attend a college recommended by us to undertake their GNVQ Level 1,2 and 3 in Automotive Repair, at no cost to themselves.
Honing the Business Skills
In order to ensure successful candidates get the widest learning possible each trainee will also be expected to undertake a 1 month placement in each of their first 3 years – moving through our Parts, Service Reception and Vehicle Sales Departments
